Mrs. McCarthy - 8th Grade U.S. History/ 7th & 8th Leadership

My name is Emily McCarthy and I have been in education for 12 years. I'm originally from California, where I taught my first 2 years of 7th and 8th grade history. I moved up to Washington in 2016 and started teaching at Napavine Jr./Sr. High School. At Napavine I taught several different things: 7th grade ELA, 8th grade U.S. History, 10th grade World History, and 11th grade U.S. History. My next and final stop in my educator journey is here at Centralia Middle School. I have over 7 years of coaching history, mainly in soccer, at both the middle school and high school level. 

 

I have a bachelors degree in history and a masters degree in curriculum instruction. I am a huge history nerd and bookworm, reading 40+ books a year. I'm passionate about making history relatable, interesting, and helping students grow their critical thinking, research, and media literacy skills.
